A Little Variety … A Lot of Fish!

After spending the last 7 months chasing the trout and salmon of Lake Michigan I tried something new today … and I had a blast!

Today my buddy Troy Schmeling of Hartford and I ventured up to Dyckesville to try our hand at whitefish. Being newbies at this we chose to hire a guide and contacted Kelly Burmeister Petz of Ice Fishing Adventures. It didn’t take long to realize we had made a good decision. Kelly not only put us on fish, but taught us a ton about whitefish and the best way to go about catching the critters. He provided the latest in electronics, good equipment, a comfortable shack, and a tasty lunch!

The morning bite was hot and as soon as we learned the subtelties of the bite the pile of fish outside the shack started to grow. The bite slowed in the afternoon, but we left with a couple of limits of fish and some great memories. We both agreed we were glad we went and we’ll be going again!

If your interested in giving whitefish a try I’d encourage you to give Kelly a call. You can get his contact info form his website HERE.
